Open Position
Co-Chair, Board of Educational Programming
Open position - contact BOEP Co-Chair Daniel Vesper (dvesper@iu.edu) if interested.
BOEP is a student group that all Collinsites are welcome to join throughout the semester. We meet bi-weekly and fund and put on educational programs for the community, including informal conversations with faculty members around campus (like fireside chats and professor dinners), trivia nights, book discussions, short courses taught by other Collinsites, and more. We also publish The Pipe and the Barrow each year, Collins’ academic publication.
Additionally, BOEP is in charge of selecting the Collins courses. Each semester, BOEP receives many proposals for courses to evaluate and ultimately choose from. Since taking a Collins course is a residency requirement, BOEP takes great care in assessing each course that comes through us in a series of interviews and meetings. The process is entirely student-run, providing a great space to make your voice heard and to help assure that our courses will meet the needs and interests of Collinsites and provide a quality educational experience.
We're looking forward to selecting a whole new set of courses this semester and are always eager to have new members!
As a product of the late 60s and early 70s, the LLC was founded on the philosophy of empowering students to take charge of their educational experience. In theory this was also the philosophy embraced by other LLCs at the University of Illinois, Michigan, and Michigan State. But unlike our sister programs, the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University was prepared to trust students with curricular matters and treat them as colleagues. The result of this faith in students has been nothing short of spectacular.

Co-Chair, Board of Educational Programming
Q Instructor
Howdy! My name is Daniel Vesper, and I am a senior majoring in Media as well as East Asian Languages and Cultures. I’ve been in Collins all four of my years here at IU, and in addition to being a Q instructor I serve as the Co-Chair of Collins' Board of Educational Programming. Outside of school I love watching movies, playing tabletop RPGs, reading poetry, and hanging out with friends in the Cheshire Café! I’m excited to meet all of you and show you what Collins has to offer! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
