If you are new to IU and have decided that Collins is a good fit for you, select Collins Living-Learning Center as your number one preference on your IU Housing application and make sure to answer the Collins LLC-specific questions in your application. The priority deadline to apply for placement at Collins LLC is May 5, though we may consider applications that come in after that date if we still have spaces available.

If you are a transfer student, you will not be able to select LLC or thematic communities on your Housing application. If you are interested in Collins LLC, please make note in the comment section of your application and reach out to us directly (leidavis@iu.edu) for LLC application and placement.

Apply for housing at IU

If you have already applied for housing and would like to change your preference to Collins LLC, you may still be able to log in to your application and update your preferences. Please refer to the IU Housing website for deadlines regarding application changes. If you are not able to update your application in the IU Housing system, please send an email to housing@iu.edu and leidavis@iu.edu with your name and student ID number stating that Collins LLC is now your first preference and, if you haven’t already done so, request to fill out the Collins LLC application.

If you are currently an IU student and want to join us at Collins LLC, the process is a little different. Our deadline for placing returning IU students at Collins for 2025-2026 is February 1, 2025. If you miss this deadline and are still interested in Collins, please reach out to us in August/September after the fall semester has started to see if placement is possible.

• If you live in IU on-campus housing, you need to fill out a Collins LLC application and learn about next steps (starting in October) from our Assistant Director. E-mail leidavis@iu.edu to fill out the Collins LLC application and learn about next steps.
• If you don’t live on campus, you need to contact housing@iu.edu to complete a full IU Housing application. Not having a current IU housing contract can sometimes impact our ability to offer you a contract for the following year.
• Please note that students who already live in Collins LLC will always have initial priority when re-contracting spaces and there may be a limit on how many returning IU students we can re-contract each year. If we run out of spaces, we will run a waitlist. We are often able to place many students from that waitlist, but are not able to make any promises on whether or not a space will become available.
