The Indiana University Board Of Trustees re-approved the renovation of Collins Living-Learning Center at their February 5th meeting earlier this month. The project, previously approved in October 2019, was put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic and can now move forward with bidding. Construction is expected to begin in May 2021 after students have moved out for the academic year with a projected completion of July 2022.
The $23 million dollar project involves renovation work on Edmondson, Cravens, and Smith, including plans for air conditioning, the addition of an elevator, and an update of the kitchen and food services area, among other improvements.
While the three buildings are closed for the 2021-2022 academic year, the LLC will be housed in Foster-Shea and Hillcrest. There is space for both returners and new incoming students in the Foster-Shea space, though current LLC residents will have to contact LLC staff to re-contract into that space for next year.
