The Coffeehouse is a large space with tables for reading, working, eating, or visiting with friends. Many Collins organizations hold their meetings in the Coffeehouse and it includes a stage for performances.
It’s also a popular site for fireside chats by visiting scholars and artists, for concerts, poetry readings, open mic nights, and other events hosted by Collins. The Collins Thespians utilize the space for theatrical performances, and residents gather here for the Music Talent Show each semester. With so much happening, our Collins residents need only stop in to find a friend or entertainment for the evening.
The Coffeehouse is named for Ernest Bernhardt-Kabisch, director of the Living-Learning Center from 1977-1989, and also an emeritus professor in the Germanic Studies department. He comes back to visit occasionally for Awards Night and other major events, and to meet current residents.
