Early in the evening of Tuesday, March 26th, author and IUB English professor Angela Jackson-Brown visited the Collins Living Learning Center for a fireside chat in the Edmondson formal lounge. The theme of the discussion, “Activism is the Rent We Pay”, was chosen to inspire students to make their world a better place. Professor Jackson-Brown gave a well-written speech on how her own work has improved the world around her and how several career fields could work to incorporate activism into their practices. Beyond how students can perform activism, she also discussed how students can use their privileges to uplift less fortunate people, such as being more vocally in support of progress with their more secure position in society. Thank you to Professor Angela Jackson-Brown for visiting Collins and heading such a motivational fireside chat.
