We are proud to announce the Collins Living-Learning Center award winners for 2019-2020. We plan to host an event in the fall to honor these students and present them with their awards. For the Major Awards, students will receive a certificate signed by the director and scholarship as eligible. For the Gnome Awards, students will receive Collins LLC-branded gear (t-shirts for freshmen, baseball tees for sophomores, zip-up hoodies for juniors, messenger bags for seniors), as well as something extra for above and beyond categories.
MAJOR AWARDS
Service Award (This award is for a current Collinsite who has made a significant service contribution to the Bloomington community):
Celestina Garcia for innovative work with the Sustainable Food Committee, teaming up with a Bloomington neighborhood to create a community garden.
Patricia Templeton Patrick Award for contributions to diversity (This award is for a current Collinsite who has made a significant contribution to advancing diversity at Collins, IU, or the Bloomington community):
Aaron Sizemore, for leadership in building community among the Queer and Trans communities and their allies in and around Collins
Freshman Award (This award is intended to encourage incoming freshmen to Collins to engage in the community in multiple ways, by joining various existing student groups, by developing new initiatives, by the completion of a thoughtful Q project that builds community at Collins, and/or by taking on a position of student leadership):
Heidi Dargle, Editor of The Dancing Star and supporter of student mental health in Collins
Levi Gettleman, Editor of the Lantern yearbook, co-programmer in BOEP, and active contributor to many Collins initiatives

Ernest and Eva Bernhardt-Kabisch Award for academic excellence (This award is for a current Collinsite who combines academic excellence with involvement in the Collins Community):

Elissa Bradley Award for Collins spirit (This award is for a current Collinsite who has been especially active in promoting the mission of the Center as expressed in its core values: academics, community, diversity, sustainable living, and student empowerment.):

GNOME AWARDS
Gnome awards are separated out by class (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors) and include Collins LLC-branded gear, as well as something extra for above and beyond categories. The Collins staff both nominates and requests nominations from leaders of student groups, RAs, BOG reps, and Q instructors. These awards are given to students who are recognized for their contributions to the Collins LLC community for that year. Nominations are compiled by the Collins staff and reviewed and approved by the student Executive Board.
