Register NOW for this introduction to the unique genre of Artists’ Books!
Artists’ Books are a modern phenomenon, that took root post WWII. In this presentation you will discover myriad forms of these book works and art works, exemplifying the astounding array of concepts, materials, structures, and processes these books can incorporate, and demonstrating how difficult it is to define the genre. It is this very conundrum that makes them a flexible and innovative vehicle that any artist working in any medium/s can delve into. From elaborate productions to photocopied multiples, we will situate them in an historical context and share examples to portray the range of artists’ books in the collection of the Wells Library at Indiana University, from well-established artists to student work.
Presenters include Art, Architecture and Design Librarian Sarah Carter, Associate Director of Collins LLC Yara Cluver, and Senior Collections and Reference Associate Edwin Cheek.
This online event, hosted by Wells Library, is free and open to the public; however registration on Zoom is required to attend.
