- Course Description
The purpose of the seminar is for each student to explore and discover their own unique approach to portrait painting in terms of technique and style as they will be exposed to exercises within the seminar, interpreting the most telling part of our body, the human head and neck. The point is not to only capture the physical likeness, but to focus on capturing the personality of the subject. The face may be a limited space, always structured with the same features, but within this frame, the range of possibilities is wide. Portraiture is an art that is widely used in illustration. From caricature to a more naturalistic approach. The seminar will focus more on the painterly interpretation. We will do practical exercises, which will be discussed constructively throughout the process.
Instructor: Andrea Ventura - visiting artist, Italian professional illustrator/painter living in Berlin
