Course Description

The multidisciplinary course Write on All Fours: reading & writing erotic literature aims to light a creative writing fire from reading and discussing erotic literature, from four positions to approach the matter: comic eroticism, dramatic eroticism, literary eroticism, and political/philosophical eroticism. We will read theoretical and literary texts about the topic, to learn creative writing techniques and apply them in our own production. The selected texts result from an attentive curatorship, focused mainly on women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ authors, with special attention to Latinx literature in translation. After learning to listen and empathize with each other, we will edit our texts collaboratively in class. Thus, by the end of the course, we will have an anthology ready for publication. Writing on All Fours will encourage and give tools so students can learn and produce literary texts with their knowledge, creating something solid and collective when the semester ends.
