The Collins Senate

The Senate

The Collins Senate is the legislative body of the Collins Center Student Government. Any Collins resident can apply to be a floor representative.

The Senators have 3 main responsibilities:

  • It is the Senate's responsibility to allocate the student government activity fee money by funding projects in the Collins community and approving center student government chair and director budgets.
  • It serves as a forum in which student concerns can be heard and addressed.
  • It fulfills other legislative roles delegated to it by the Collins Center Government Constitution.

The Senate meets every-other week on Sundays opposite of Executive Board in a Collins classroom. Senate meetings are open to all residents, but Senators or their proxies are the only ones who may vote.

Everyone who lives in a residence hall pays a student government activity fee and anyone at Collins may request funding from The Senate to make use of that fee for their program ideas or floor improvements. Download the funding template below and fill out the required information. E-mail your completed template to TBA (currently in search of a VP) in advance of the next Senate meeting.
